This morning I signed in to register for a trail race — the MMS Desert 5-mile Water-Tower Run.
Who would I be? i briefly puzzled … my real name? one of the usual aliases? and then, glancing back at the three dogs in the truck –> why not? somebody cuatro-perros, uh, Hoe-Zay!
So Josè CuatroPerros was written on the sign-in sheet. Yes, I was and still am, the 4th perro.
We ran the race, up and down the desert ‘dobes (short for “adobe” — which relates to the clay structures of ridges and gulleys and such) and even if this wasn’t exactly “fun” — well, I’m gonna pretend it was. Especially after we were done and the stories and exaggerations and lies and totally-irrelevant anecdotes could be and were told.
You’ll be glad to know that I have no pixures of this event, but how about this, from the day before, when we were visiting and re-constructing inuk-thing-a-ma-rangs up on the Delta County rim of the Gunnison River?
Jake and RockSea hog the frame of the reconstructed INUK overlooking the Gunnison River @ the Delta County Line.
The occasional neighborhood deer can’t do too much of this: nibbling on the elm trees, as long as they keep out of Betty’s gardens …
Betty went on a high-altitude wild-flower trek with a friend of hers recently …
The cactus was @ bloom (& probably still is) recently, @ 7k feet elevation …
Rosco attempts to ‘capture’ a bumble-bee …
Betty & Rosco were canoeing in the “Lake of the Hills” when the Lake Ness Monster intervened ~
JaJa (emerging from the Gunny-River-Over-look Inuk-whang-a-ma-rang) just yesterday ~
Perhaps the INUK will be discovered by an archeologist, who will then conjecture that our planet was colonized thousands of years ago, by aliens from outer space.
